A long time client of ours recently picked up this 2015 Ferrari F12 for his collection. Luckily, the car looks like its had PPF its entire life, so it had practically no paint damage. However it is starting to show its age and is time to come off. The self healing ability of the film is no longer functioning (we are unsure of what film was originally installed) and there were some deep hard water etchings left from the previous owner. Along with that, there have been major improvements in film technology since this F12 originally received its PPF back in 2015 or 2016. This means we can take what was once a standard multi piece hood and turn it into a seemless single piece hood. Unfortunately, while the previous installed seemed to do a pretty good job on this car, they did ultimately cut the paint on the hood when they seemed in those additional corner pieces.

Ferraris are pretty notorious for having pretty delicate paint and ppf removal is always a hit or miss with these cars. We use several different methods to remove film, depending on the severity and the panel that its attached to, for the safest removal possible. We were fortunate to remove film from the entire vehicle without any paint issues at all. That was the first big sign of relief and allowed us to keep pushing on and bringing the condition of this Ferrari F12 to the place the client has come to expect from us.

After remove all of the old paint protection film, we have to go through a process with an adhesive remover to remove anything left behind by the old film. This is probably the most tedious part of the process, as even the tiniest remaining adhesive, will turn into a very visible blemish once the new film is applied. After many hours going over every inch of the vehicle, it was thoroughly washed, twice and brought back inside. After drying, it was once again cleaned, this time using a clay bar. This is the last effort of making sure there is nothing on the surface before we begin laying down the new film.

This particular client always does full vehicle paint protection film. He likes to drive his cars and want to have that extra piece of mind. Not to mention, most of his vehicles are jet black and the PPF helps keep wash marring and surface scratches from occurring. We use XPEL paint protection films, which have a self healing property built right into them, so that surface scratches will disappear when the panel sees reaches a certain amount of heat or sunlight. This is the only way I could ever own a black vehicle myself, haha!

Over the next few days, each panel is meticulously covered with the XPEL paint protection film and a professional ceramic coating is applied to the entire vehicle. Before the ceramic coating application begins, we wipe down all of the surfaces with IPA to remove any residues from the PPF installation process.

This client also opted for our top tier professional ceramic coating package, which we have installed on many vehicle for him over the years and he absolutely loves! For his cars, he requests that we apply the Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra "Black" Package. This includes a base layer of Crystal Serum Ultra, followed with EXOv5 on all of the exterior surfaces. We also applied a combination of these coatings on the door jambs, trunk plastics, interior carbon, etc. Once those areas were completed, we performed our wheels off detail and ceramic coating package, to make life easier for the client and keep brake dust from building and attaching itself to the wheel surface.

Not shown on camera was a full wheel and tire dismount, complete chemical stripping of the wheels (they had been previously paint black and very poorly) and they then had a professional gloss black powder coat applied by one of our trusted partners. The wheels and tire were mated back together again and we applied both Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra, as well as EXOv5. The brake calipers and inner fender liners received the same treatment.

Last but not least, we stripped all of the old window film from the vehicle and applied the new XPEL IR film, to help protect the interior from harmful UV rays and keep its passengers cool down here in sunny Florida! We also went a little darker than the previous film that was applied for a bit nicer aesthetic.
