CHAT, the Chico Housing Action Team is a truly remarkable non-profit organization in Chico, CA with a fairly unique affordable housing model. But the brilliant and passionate minds behind CHAT can't stand still while people are still out on the streets (or at risk) in their pretty Northern California town of about 100,000. Concerned that not enough was done especially for people struggling alone with mental challenges, they decided to try and convince the local county to partner up with them. The endgame: offering a transitional village where people in need would be surrounded with services. No need to say, obstacles were many. However, step by step love and determination prevailed.
