Have you ever woken up from your sleep because of a construction taking place near your house? It is the opposite of a soothing experience, and this situation is a kind of noise pollution.

The term, also known as environmental noise or sound pollution, refers to the generation of noise that has a variety of effects on human or animal health.

Most of these effects are harmful to some degree, and machines and transportation are the major sources of outdoor noise around the world. Luckily though, a certain technique might help us in solving this problem. This technique is acoustic engineering.

You may have questions like, “What is engineering acoustics?" and "How one uses acoustical technology to reduce noise pollution?” In a nutshell, the branch of engineering that deals with sound and vibration are known as acoustic engineering. It involves the use of sound and vibration research.

From industrial to entertainment, various sectors use different noise-reduction methods. One method is to control the sound by installing acoustical insulation while the other is installing rubber paddings. These are only two examples of the various methods.

At a certain point in our lives, we probably encountered a form of noise pollution. In addition to its annoying effects, noise pollution can also pose certain risks for human health.

Thankfully, by engineering sound and using acoustic, we can solve these problems. If you are curious to know more about the potential health risks noise pollution may pose on human health and what methods can be used to reduce noise, this video is here to inform you!
