Leon Jakubowicz made a detailed scale model of the Łódź ghetto in German-occupied Poland while forced to live and work there from 1940–44.

Using scrap wood, he meticulously crafted his surroundings—from the miniature barbed-wire fences that confined Jews to the footbridges that separated them from the rest of the city’s residents.
