0:00 - Intro

BAD:

0:56 - Expensive

This is a bit of cheeky point, but yes the X7 is the most expensive of the main 3 German rivals

The X7 starts at 81,900
While the Audi Q7 starts at as little as 59,200
But here’s the petty thing Mercedes did with their GLS

I’ll remind you the X7 starts at 81,900…and the GLS starts at 81,800

1:33 - Third row

Ok so, the only other thing I will sort of ding this X7 on is the fact that the third row isn’t huge

-

GOOD:

1:59 - The Driving Machine

I’ve driven many a 3 row SUV in my years doing car reviews and I have to say, this X7 is almost certainly the best to drive

You get air suspension standard so the ride is really comfortable
You get an adjustable ride height for fuel economy and ease of use
The glass is laid out really well so the visibility is excellent
You have plenty of power even from the base engine B58
The steering is nice and light or hefts up if you want
The driver assist suite is comprehensive to say the least
You can option active comfort drive with road preview

2:55 - Engine options

Like I said, this is the base engine, the xDrive40i

That means you get the legendary B58 that I can’t say enough good things about
Here it’s making 375hp and 395 lbft - so more of a torque tune than we’ve seen in things like the m340i
This also has the 48V mild hybrid system to improve efficiency to 22 mpg combined
And it’ll get that even while it launches itself to 60 in 5 and a half seconds from time to time
Wonderful engine - no complaints at all, though the X7 does start to seem a bit heavy if you really want to ring its neck

4:07 - Towing

Your X7 will max out its towing capacity at 7500 lbs - that’s really impressive

4:16 - Design

This is the biggest SUV BMW sells and generally it’s hard to design 3 row SUVs to be attractive..and then there’s the whole BMW design team controversy BUT this still manages to look like one of the more handsome 3 rows out there

I mean I won’t say it’s as handsome as the X5 but it’s better looking than a Q7 and depending on the spec, better than the GLS

5:17 - Interior details

Surprise Surprise your flagship BMW SUV has a really nice interior

And my favorite little detail is on the passenger side of the dash which has the little illuminated X7 design - it’s just kind cool

5:47 - 2nd Row

You can get this X7 in either a 6 seat or 7 seat configuration

6:12 - Tech and Features

And then finally up front we’ll talk about all the goodies you get

Your tech stack is super robust which wont surprise anyone
You get the new iDrive 8 system which I really like
The graphics and animations are excellent
You can add individual widgets to your home screen….yanno like your phone
You have wireless car play and aa
You have awesome 360 cameras
Reverse assist breadcrumbs
A drive recorder
A comprehensive driver assist suite which is really good
And you’ve got a voice assistant which I would never use and Bowers speakers

AND THEN all these things are complemented by serious luxury touches
Like heated and cooled seats
Massage seats
Heated armrests
Heated and cooled cupholders
All these things remind me of that Katy Perry song*

I honestly, cant really think of anything you can’t get on an X7
