This video shows you how to check or add coolant in a 2020-2024 3.0L Duramax Diesel engine.
The following vehicles are equipped with the 3.0L Duramax Diesel engine:

Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500
Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL
Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon
Cadillac Escalade
Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon
Isuzu D-Max

Tools and Supplies Needed:

1. Coolant (Dex-Cool)
2. Funnel
3. Rags

Instructions:

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and let it cool down for at least 30 minutes.
3. Open the hood.
4. Locate the coolant reservoir. It is a clear plastic tank with a black cap on top.
5. Remove the cap from the coolant reservoir.
6. Check the coolant level. The coolant level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the reservoir.
7. If the coolant level is low, add coolant until the level is between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks.
8. Replace the cap on the coolant reservoir.
9. Close the hood.

Additional Tips:

It is important to use the correct type of coolant in your Duramax Diesel engine. GM recommends using Dex-Cool coolant.
Do not overfill the coolant reservoir. Overfilling the reservoir can cause the coolant to boil over and damage the engine.
If you are adding coolant to a hot engine, be careful not to open the coolant reservoir too quickly. The hot coolant can expand and spray out of the reservoir.

Troubleshooting:

If you notice that your coolant level is dropping rapidly, there may be a leak in the cooling system. Have the cooling system inspected by a qualified mechanic.
If your coolant level is dropping slowly, it may be due to evaporation. This is normal, but you should still check the coolant level regularly and add coolant as needed.

Safety Precautions:

Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle.
Be careful not to touch the hot engine components.
Do not overfill the coolant reservoir.
If you are adding coolant to a hot engine, be careful not to open the coolant reservoir too quickly.
