Live 24/7 Tracker: • Cyclone Gamane intensifying off the c...
Cyclone Gamane made a powerful Category 2 landfall last night in the northern reaches of Madagascar, and has continued to move slowly inland. At the present time, the movement estimate is pegged at 4 miles per hour, moving south-southwest. Extreme rainfall totals are expected in Diana and Sava provinces, with over 1100mm still to come in addition to current totals.
A forecasting conundrum is developing with chances of a recurve decreasing, and it's starting to look more likely that the storm will die out over Madagascar, or to the west offshore. However, it's still looking most likely that a recurve will take the storm to Mauritius as a tropical storm early next week.
Elsewhere, no areas of interest are active around the tropical regions.
