Sorry for the delay on this video! I would have liked to make it months ago but I didn’t have the equipment to make it all happen. Now that I do, I hope that you all enjoy it! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns do let me know in the comments. Thank you all for your support of this channel.

This mask build is a bit more complex than my previous 2 videos. Although it may be possible to use an FDM printer for this project I recommend using a 3D resin printer. In order for the mold to function properly the surface needs to be VERY smooth. Also, none of the parts are designed to print flat on a print bed, everything requires supports.

IMPORTANT: This mask has not been evaluated by an independent testing laboratory. I can make no claims as to its safe or reliable function. If you make one and wear it, you will be doing so at your own risk! The filter used in this design is a 3M brand filter. 3M corporation in no way endorses this product! I do not claim that this 3M filter retains it’s N95 particulate filtration while in use in this device.

TOOLS AND MATERIALS:
Filter: 3M 5n11
Resin Printer (possibly any will do? I used a Form 3)
3D printing Resin (use something that is skin safe if you can find it, I used Formlabs Clear V4)
Large Syringe (I used a Medline 60mL Flat Top Syringe)
Vacuum Degasser (Any will work)
Silicone (Use something that is skin safe, I used Ecoflex 00-30 and Sortaclear 18 from Smoothon)
¼” Braided Elastic for the strap (Any brand will work)
Hot Glue, plastic cups, stir sticks and paper towels are also a must.
To join the mask plastic and silicone I used Sil Poxy and J-B WELD Clearweld Clear Epoxy Adhesive. Se below for application method.

PART FILES (Print at your own risk)

Joining the plastic and silicone:
1) Glue the mask rubber into the plastic component using J-B WELD Clearweld Clear Epoxy Adhesive
2) Pull the rubber off after the epoxy has cured. The epoxy does not bond with the silicone.
3) Apply Smooth-on Sil Poxy to the mask as shown in the video. Then reapply the mask rubber to the plastic component.

I tried 16 different glue combinations. None of the glues bonded directly to the silicone. The Epoxy does not bond to the rubber. The Sil Poxy does not bond with the plastic. However the Sil Poxy does bond permanently with this specific Epoxy. This combination was the only one that was even slightly effective.

I'm now on Patreon!!! The reward levels are very basic for the time being but I promise to bring merch and other perks in the near future.
