Jonathan Andrew Nelson, born on November 10, 1974, in Baltimore, Maryland, is a notable figure in American gospel music. Co-founding the group 'Purpose,' his journey began at the Baltimore School for the Arts and Morgan State University. The independent album by 'Purpose' set the stage for Nelson's influence in the gospel scene. In 2000, Nelson's composition "Healed" gained recognition, catching the ear of Grammy-nominated choir leader Donald Lawrence. This marked the start of Nelson's ascent, earning him the Stellar Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2006. Collaborations with producer Troy Sneed further solidified his impact on the gospel music landscape.

From a self-financed live album in 2006 to signing with Integrity Music and releasing "Right Now Praise" in 2008, Nelson's journey expanded. Accolades followed, including a Dove Award nomination in 2009 and key roles as the minister of music at The Faith Center and Empowerment Temple Church.

In 2010, Nelson released "Better Days," adding another milestone to his career. His exploration of sound continued in 2016 with an album under Light Records/Entertainment One Music (eOne Music).
