A 50 Mph (80 Km/h), 70% overlap rear crash test. The barrier weighs 1360 kg. (About 3000 lbs.)

Part of a series to test this current generation FMVSS 301 (50Mph / 70% Overlap) against vehicles that were FMVSS 301 compliant in the previous generation. (30 Mph / 100% Overlap)

Result: Fail - Fuel Leak. A total of 532.5 ounces (4.16 Gallons) of fluid drained from the vehicle during the Static Rollover.

There was Stoddard solvent leakage from the top of the gas tank immediately after the impact event. The amount of solvent collected during this period did not exceed the allowable limits. Stoddard solvent leaked from the top of the fuel tank, where the filler neck connects to the tank, during portions of the static rollover. Leaks were visible at every position of the static rollover. The amount of solvent collected during each interval exceeded the allowable limits.

This is a test on the fuel system to ensure there is no fuel leakage in a high-speed rear-end collision. There is no instrumentation in the dummies.
