Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard trained, published neuroanatomist. After experiencing a severe hemorrhagic stroke, she lost the ability to write, talk, and recall any of her life. She wrote My Stroke of Insight to document her eight-year recovery and experience. She regularly speaks to various different audiences of all academic levels on the brain’s ability to recover from trauma. She has been chosen as “100 Most Influential People in the World” by TIME Magazine and was the premiere guest for Oprah’s “Soul Series” web-cast. Additionally, she has a new book Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life is now available.

In today’s episode of Conversations on Healing, host Shay Beider welcomes Dr. Taylor to talk about her experience recovering from a stroke and the power of choice in activating different states of your brain. She talks about the 4 characters at the neuroanatomical level and their impact in daily life. Additionally, Dr. Taylor describes the different roles of the left and right hemispheres of the brain, and how people can bring consciousness to the present moment by remaining right brain dominant. She also speaks on the importance of sleep for cell rejuvenation and information integration. Dr. Taylor shares the concept of Brain Huddle, which helps our brain to integrate all four characters on the neuroanatomical level in order to take power of our lives and create peace.
