The 2024 Chevy Trax brings much needed value back to the small crossover class, giving buyers a lot of compelling features for far less money than the competition. In the small crossover segment, the 2024 Chevy Trax RS undercuts the Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Dodge Hornet, and Hyundai Kona by thousands of dollars while providing as much or more interior space and some of the very same options. While the Chevy Trax isn't as efficient as the Corolla Cross or as smooth as the Hyundai Kona, it's close enough that most buyers might not care. The Dodge Hornet has more style and provides a better more exciting driving experience, as does the Mazda CX-30, but the Hornet is quite expensive and the Mazda CX-30 is quite a bit smaller inside. Only the Honda HR-V rivals the Chevy Trax all around goodness, but a comparably equipped HR-V is a little more expensive with an equally unexciting powertrain. On the subject of engines, the small 1.2 liter turbo 3 cylinder in the Chevy Trax is more than potent enough to move the 2024 Chevy Trax around, with its main drawback being only average fuel economy for such a small engine. Still, the Chevy Trax is a VERY impressive small crossover, and we were shocked that we were able to take the entire tall family down to the grandparents' house for the week after Christmas with no issues in terms of space or packing. You can't say that for some if not most of the 2024 Chevrolet Trax competitors. Value is the name of the game, and the Chevy Trax delivers value in a BIG way.
