“Complex Simplicities” Groove Demonstration

This is for all the J.Lo fans, including myself - “Waiting For Tonight”!! This is my first time playing this song and my OWN interpretation and expressions of the song (not trying to play it like the record)...and this my first time playing on my NEW BABY DW KIT I just got!!

Even with simple songs like this one (2 and 4 grooves of kick, snare and hat)...I create the complexities with my spirit and emotion from my soul, between the hits and spaces of silence. And make them all “dance together” in rhythm. I strive to make the rhythms dance. I make the bass drum(s) dance. I make the hi-hats dance. I make the snare drum dance. I make the crash cymbals dance, sometimes even with rhythmic and melodic “cymbal catches”!! These I call, “complex simplicities”!!! Or...how I also tend to refer this process as...“Moffetize” a groove.
