Sustainability reporting by companies: making sense of the ‘alphabet soup’,
with David Pitt-Watson (Judge Business School), Janine Guillot (SASB) and
Veronica Poole (Deloitte)

Why you should watch: Investor interest has snowballed in ESG risks – and opportunities – at the companies they fund, mirroring the rise in public attention particularly in climate change. But those seeking to put their money into ‘clean’ companies, or at least those cleaning up, face an ‘alphabet soup’ of guidance and frameworks on carbon emissions, sustainability goals and responsible investment. At last, there is hope of harmonisation and the three speakers are at the forefront of efforts to achieve this.

Moderator: Jane Fuller, CSFI

Panellists:

David Pitt-Watson has a long background in responsible investment as a practitioner, non- executive director and author. He is a Fellow of Cambridge Judge Business School and serves on the CSFI’s Governing Council.

Janine Guillot is CEO of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, based in San Francisco, and CEO designate of the Value Reporting Foundation being formed by the merger of the SASB with the International Integrated Reporting Council.

Veronica Poole is a partner and Global IFRS and Corporate Reporting Leader
at Deloitte. She has been a leading advocate of a Sustainability Standards Board under the aegis of the IFRS Foundation.
