Buskers is the story of Packo, a young Dubliner, and Milos, a Romanian immigrant, who battle to secure a space to beg at a Dublin train station. After a comical battle of fists and of wits, of sly tricks and hard blows, the boys find a truly special friendship in their common love of music.

This is a touching tale of how friendships are made and the film raises the issue of the marked lack of charity shown to refugee immigrants the world over..

The film features an incredible performances by child actor Stephen Moran and movie veteran John Kavanagh (Braveheart, The Black Dahlia).

Buskers is a 14 minute short film shot on 16mm. It was made as part of the Filmbase / RTE Short Film Awards and features music by U2 and Ewan Mc Coll.

Filmed on location at the Guinness brewery, St. James Gate, and elsewhere in Dublin, it is the fourth short film by writer/director Ian Power. It was produced by Mark Byrne and Noreen Donohoe. Noreen, of Escape Productions, is an accomplished short film Producer in her own right who's credits include 'Echo' and 'Pitch 'n' Putt with Joyce and Beckett'. It also features the photography of Lighting Cameraman Ivan Mc Coulagh.

Involvement with Hollywood website IFILM.com lead to a 35mm blow up and Oscar qualifying screenings in LA and New York. BUSKERS was screened for the first time on television as part of the Debut season on Ireland's Network 2 in September 2001. Since then it has also screened on the French Channel Canal+.

Buskers was televised on Sky Movies in September 2001 and received a record viewer ship for a short film on Sky Television. It enjoyed its North American Premiere at the Palm Springs Short Film Festival in California on the 2nd of August 2000.

Since then 'Buskers' has made the official selection of the Edinburgh, Claremont Ferrand, Cologne, Flanders, Chicago, Brest, Bristol, Irish Reels, East Lansing, Washington, Sydney, Celtic, and Brisbane Film Festivals among others.
