They said that never touch the bulb with your fingers because the salts and oils from your skin will damage the bulb and cause the heat to concentrate. This can significantly reduce the life of the bulb or even worse cause it to shatter. But so far I've been using it for 2 months and all is fine. You can use rubber gloves or anything that won't transfer the oil or salt to the bulb.
