South African artist Igshaan Adams describes how his work Lynloop is a response to his experiences growing up in the Cape Flats during Apartheid. A wall-sized tapestry made from materials including pink mohair, gold chain, and costume jewelry, the work counters the culture of hypermasculinity and violence that he found there.
