Mr. Iyer encouraged Ramanujan to go to England to pursue his deep interest in math. Sadly, the brilliant mathematician passed away at the age of 32 years. Ramanujan's mother and wife continued to visit Mr. Iyer's house for many years after his death shares Shailaja.
