A 50 Mph (80 Km/h), 70% overlap rear crash test. The barrier weighs 1360 kg. (About 3000 lbs.)

Part of a series to test this current generation FMVSS 301 (50Mph / 70% Overlap) against vehicles that were FMVSS 301 compliant in the previous generation. (30 Mph / 100% Overlap)

Result: Fail - Fuel Leak. A total of 208.3 ounces (1.63 Gallons) of fluid drained from the vehicle during the Static Rollover.

Stoddard solvent leaked from the underside of the vehicle immediately after the test. Solvent was observed leaking from the front and rear of the fuel tank. Actual leakage location is an unidentified region of the fuel tank. The solvent continued to leak throughout the static rollover at every position from 0°-360°. The amount of solvent collected during each interval exceeded the allowable limits.

This is a test on the fuel system to ensure there is no fuel leakage in a high-speed rear-end collision. There is no instrumentation in the dummies.
