A review of my Wolezek red & infrared lamp for red-light therapy purposes.

This lamp is sold under a lot of different names rather than just one company on Amazon.

Other names include Weipute, Zarbaha, Aumtrly etc - they are all the same bulb containing 18 LEDs, 9 of which are visible red light at 660nm wavelength and 9 LEDs of which are non-visible near infrared light at 850nm wavelength.

I can confirm that this bulb can be used both on the 110V American electricity circuits AND the 230V European electricity circuits without needing a special adaptor, unlike more sensitive electrical products out there. This probably means that the power output of the bulb is greater in Europe than in the USA due to the higher voltage. In this video it is plugged into a 230V socket in Sweden.

It is stated that this bulb has 141mW/cm2 power, which I guess is dependant on the power supply. The higher the power, the more effectively the light will hit you skin the further away from your body the lamp is. Other bulbs may have more LEDs but it is at the expense of power and so they are not as good at a distance, making them not as useful if you want to cover more of your body.

Not mentioned in the video is that fact that due to circadian rhythms, it is probably a better idea to use the bulb around the time the sun rises or when you get up in the morning and when the sun sets or before bed. This is to be more in line with how our bodies would naturally receive red light from the sun and hence make sure we are encouraging rather than interfering with the natural production of hormones at specific times of the day, such as those that might affect sleep.

Obviously the longer session periods (I recommend at least two 20 min sessions a day to start seeing improvements), the more of the body you expose to the light and the longer period of time you use this the more likely you are to see results for your particular issue. However, don't just rely on this bulb. Coming at a disease from more angles such as working on you sleeping, eating, drinking, exercising habits etc are important too!

If you are looking at other red light therapy products, be careful of those that you put close to your skin, as the bulbs even if they are LEDs give off different types of radiation that might not be beneficial to you.

If you want to understand more, you can find more details in Mark Sloan's book which also includes a list of scientific papers for those who wish to explore deeper. His book is called "Near infra-red and red light therapy: Miracle Medicine" which can easily be found on Amazon too.
