In this video I go out into a forest fire burn from last year with the fellas from Adam's Mushrooms (https://www.adamsmushrooms.com) to find some burn morels and talk about some of the edible plants that pop up in burn areas.
This is a burn from last year, and like most forest fires, morels are popping up the following spring. These mushrooms are pretty buggy when mature, so we are picking them pretty young. We also left behind untold amounts of babies to get large enough to spore out.
It is very early in the season and unusual to find morels in Western Washington this early is very rare, but here we are! As the weather progressively gets warmer the morel habitat will climb into the mountains.
