The Lexus ES was revised for 2022 last month and at that time, we reviewed the top-end ES300h Sports Luxury hybrid. But what is life like at the other end of the new Lexus ES range? The 2022 ES is now available with a non-hybrid engine, the ES250, which uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol making 152kW of power (203 hp).

This new entry model means the ES lineup now starts at $61,620, which is fairly good value given the high specification on offer. There is also an F Sport model for just under $71K.

The ES straddles a couple of luxury sedan segments and competes with both the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the larger E-Class, plus the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series and Audi A4 and A6.
