I have a BMW extended warranty, but is it worth it?

My long serving, 11 year old BMW 135i Coupe has had a warranty on it since I took ownership.

To be honest, on a car of this age, I wouldn't usually consider taking out a warranty. The only reason I did was because I bought it from a BMW dealership and it came with a 12 month warranty. Which I then extended.

I'll explain why I extended it, give you a useful tip to help you save money if you are going to extend your own warranty and, answer the big question, has it been worth it?
