In this episode, I'm expanding on my escapement design by adding a balance wheel and hairspring, and I end up with a fully functional escapement!

About Homebrew Horology:
I've always been passionate about the intricate mechanics and design of mechanical watches and clocks, so I decided, why not try to design one from scratch myself? I'm hoping to use rudimentary materials and tools (mainly due to lack of machining equipment at my house) and my 3D printer to accomplish this. I'm trying to go for as authentic an experience as possible– meaning that I will make everything myself, without the aid of anyone else– to maximize how much I'll learn along the way.

About me:
I'm a first-year Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering student at Princeton University! I've been making things ever since I was young. I loved (and still do) using my hands to create intricate and detailed origami models, Lego contraptions– and this passion progressed as I learned about electronics and how to solder, computer-aided manufacturing and design, and machining. My fascination with mechanics and flight has led me to build and customize multiple racing drones with 3D printed parts. Most of my experience using these tools is from my own personal projects and experimentation over the years, and a motto I fully stand behind is "learn by doing". My goal with this channel is to grow as a content creator and as a maker and to share the projects I make with the world.
