The Marvel Cinematic Universe is called a 'Universe' for a reason: it's a whole system of stories originating from the comic book realm, the clamour around them expanded by the MCU franchise's extensive marketing and reach. Everything has a connection with a real-time event when it comes to the MCU- Toys signal the arrival of new superhero functionalities and concept art designs make their way into our newsfeeds to hint at possible character changes, cameos or simply a new costume style. This video focuses on concept art: specialised designs and illustrations that decide how a final character will end up looking in the final film. An unused image of Ultron with splashes of red created quite the stir about what he might've looked like in that form, which led us down a rabbit hole of concept art books to explore more ways in which characters could have looked different. Could we have seen more of Iron Man's artillery and armours while we could? Can the post Infinity War Thor slip as easily into flip flops as he did with Crocs? Could Mantis have gotten even cuter? And what was the deal with Benedict Cumberbatch in a Mark III-type suit? Was he finally done bickering with Tony, or did it mean that more of their enjoyable banter would have made it into the Endgame?
