When people ask how we met we always turn to look at each other and smile. Our story is so unique because we met each other on a reality TV dating show. Although the show is built around contestants dating 10 other people and narrowing it down until you ultimately find your one connection, we connected on day one and pretty much decided that we didn't want to date anyone else. Us choosing each other very early on in the process of course didn't provide good content so the show created its own very unique twists and turns and told our love story in a VERY different way. We left the show early and decided to focus on our relationship- in real life. When the show aired we were building something beautiful, but were also hit with backlash based on how the show decided to piece everything together. The public opinion and judgments from viewers hit us both extremely hard but we supported each other as best we could while also going through our individual bouts of depression. We prayed together, we went through counseling together, and we surrounded ourselves with other married couples and people who loved us and knew us. We decided to leave the past TV experience behind and focus on the gift that God has given us and be thankful for what he brought us out of. Amid the storm, Kamil graduated from USC with her doctorate in Education Leadership (3.9. GPA) while also continuing to direct productions/musicals for her students and Cornelius was named Black Engineer of the Year while also still booking commercials and print/modeling work. What didn't break Cornmil (Cornelius and Kamil) only made us that much stronger as individuals, and as a couple and we are forever thankful. Even if we don't win we are so very grateful for this opportunity and know that we have already won in finding each other (but winning would be icing on the cake...lol)
