In private equity, your main focus is getting deals done. Doing deals involves a ton of work, which generally requires 60-70 hour work weeks as an Associate. But deal work is really lumpy. When things are slow and your portfolio companies are doing well, you might be able to work 40-50 hour weeks. But when things are bad, you can be working as many hours as you would in investment banking in an even more intense environment.
