LYRICS:
Kama ndege na ujasiri
Hawajui lipi linalokuja
Wanapeperuka na ujasiri
Wakigusa mawingu wakienda
Oh Freedom,
Because Freedom
That lies inside,
That's Paradiso.

My dear Mimi,
Someone asked me today If I miss you.
How do I respond to that when the truth is that, I miss you like i’d miss my right arm if it were amputated? Today, i took a little train and saw the ocean for the first time since I came here. I hardly leave the house anymore. So reaching the shore was enough for one day.

Mimi, the ocean is not as you described it to me. Foamy and bright. It is covered in seaweed and the beach is a graveyard for bottle tops, lonely shoes, and used condoms, I feel sorry for the water. The blues and greens are faded. The waves are angry and frothing against the corral. Mimi, I feel like I am the ocean. The ocean is fragile and strong. The ocean is day and night. The ocean is pure and corrupt. The ocean is loving and hateful. The ocean is white and black. The ocean is safe and dangerous. The ocean is balance and chaos. The ocean is life and death.

But in my time here, I’ve realized that hope is not a straight line Mimi. It has twists and turns. Sometimes it is right in front of you. At other times, it hides in corners and high places that I cannot reach. It’s a taboo to return home empty-handed. But I will come back Mimi. That I know for sure. With a box from paradise or in a box still searching for paradise.
