I Signed up as a Turo Host in January this year as a way to justify the purchase of a brand new Tesla Performance Model 3.I was extremely optimistic as I had calculated a promising return on investment and quickly found out it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. In this video I’ll share my experience and why I’m done with Turo.

Mainly Turo’s protection plans are garbage and many of their tactics are super shady.

I think hosting on Turo makes sense for someone that plans on starting a car rental business, and this business will be their passion and their life. The numbers seem to work out much better if you know a lot about cars, know how to get super good deals on used cars at auctions or already own a car dealership. If you have your own mechanic or have a super close relationship with a mechanic / body shop so you’re not paying market rate for your repairs, and if you have all your cars under an LLC and with separate business insurance from Turo’s awful protection plan. In my opinion, the average person putting their car on Turo will not make enough income to sustainably justify the time and money invested in renting out their car on Turo.Unfortunately it seems to take the average person a couple years to realize Turo as a small time operator doesn’t make sense.
