The Franke Program in Science and the Humanities is pleased to announce an exciting new contest that is open to the entire Yale community.

Have you ever wondered and thought about new and simple ways to explain what a virus is, what a black hole is, what causes a volcano to erupt, what happens when ice melts, or what a rainbow is?  We seek submissions of up to 2-minute-long videoclips explaining, creatively and insightfully, a scientific concept to the curious public using any creative medium.

To help with making the videos, we hosted a talk and master class on visual story-telling led by award-winning science documentary film-maker Zuberoa Marcos on February 18, 2020.  We also have some useful tips on making videos available on the Eureka page on our website:  frankeprogram.yale.edu/eureka-film-competition.

Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 and need to be e-mailed to [email protected].  Our judges, Carl Zimmer, Zuberoa Marcos, Vin Liota, and Emily Coates, will select a number of finalists whose submissions will be screened on campus in April.  The winners will be announced at the screening.
