Monument Valley 17 Mile Scenic Drive, Viewpoints, and More in Utah/Arizona!

Monument Valley straddles the Arizona-Utah border, deep within the Navajo Nation. Its unique geography, characterized by towering sandstone structures, has been formed by millions of years of geological activity. The valley's most famous landmarks include the East Mitten, West Mitten, and Merrick Butte, which rise dramatically from the desert floor. The stunning backdrop of these natural monuments provides an unparalleled setting for a memorable sunset experience.

There is not a whole lot to do in Monument Valley without a guide, but you can do a 17 mile scenic drive. This drive is a dirt road that can be done by cars, but I would recommend having a higher clearance vehicle with 4 wheel drive. There are some big pot holes along the way and some sandy spots while going uphill that can cause traction problems. However, I didn't see a car not make it out. If you do not think you have a vehicle that can complete the drive, you can pay for a guided tour.
