Insulating your garage door can make a big difference when it comes to a cooler garage! I this video I show you how to insulate a garage door DIY for extreme heat conditions. Simple styrofoam garage door kits don't provide a thermal radiant barrier but Polyisocyanurate foam (poly-iso) will!

Polyisocyanurate foam insulation is perfect for a garage door insulation project. It has several benefits over other foam insulations. It offers not one but two, thermal radiant barriers because it has a foil coating on both sides! Poly-iso foam is also more rigid and less messy to work with than styrofoam. This foam Is also light weight and has a nice metallic finish that cleans nicely.
For my garage door insulation project I made a cellular design with wood spacers to keep the foam away from the hot metal so that heat would not transfer by contact into the foam.

I picked up my polyiso foam at the big box store but I found the foil tape cheaper on Amazon. I put a link below.
