The Chico Housing Action Team in Chico, CA (www.chicohousingactionteam.net) is pulling more people off the streets everyday. It's actually difficult keeping track of all that CHAT is doing so fast it is growing! With currently seven (7) strict housing programs (plus a food and a warehouse program) CHAT seeks to address specific needs with specific solutions, understanding that no "one size fits all". Currently over 200 people are being housed and that's not counting the many who've been helped already and have moved on! This is what a few determined citizens can achieve while some cities with multi-million dollar budgets don't seem able, or willing to figure out any real long-term solutions to homelessness.
