FULL POEM TEXT:
"When you are feeling stuck, its time to pick up a ruck
When the system makes you sick, its time to grab your stick
No need for doctors or for preachers, for the mountains are the wisest teachers
They have no agendas and no goal, but they hold the space to nourish the soul
They will not tell you where to go, but they will show you how to flow
In their lonely Glens you’ll find some treasures, a place to remember life’s simple pleasures
They do not teach in concepts or words, but in the rising sun and in the song of birds
The grind of the ascent is where depression goes to die. Stand upon the snowy peaks and release your battle cry
Up upon the pointy panicles is where we shall train, in the immortal teaching; there is no pleasure without pain.
The mountain life lessons don’t tell you how to live it, but walk the blades of rocky ridges will hone and sharpen your spirit
They ask for no payment, but I offer them this song, for no matter what life throws at me, in the mountains I belong. "
