With luxury seating for up to seven, a new voice assistant, and a 483-hp Biturbo V8 with EQ Boost electrification, it's the S-Class of SUVs and then some. The 2020 GLS 580 SUV features a 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine with EQ Boost that makes 483 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 516 lb-ft @ 2,000-4,000 rpm torque, It has an eco start/stop system that automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. It has 4MATIC fully variable all-wheel drive which can automatically send from zero to 100% of the engine's torque to either axle, front or rear. A transfer case with a multi-disc clutch can vary the torque distribution based on the driving conditions in the moment.

The new GLS 580 has a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles and has a 5.2 sec 0-60 mph acceleration. This GLS 580 design offers AMG body styling - the muscular lines of the GLS 580 are further defined by a deep front apron with larger mesh grilles and fine chrome details, a diffuser-style rear bumper with black and chrome elements, and color-keyed fender flares.
