The 2024 BMW X2 arrives as a more grown-up, practical and high-tech offering, but the most significant thing it does in this world full of all-too-similar luxury crossovers is stand out.

Like the outgoing X2, this model is based on the recently redesigned X1, allowing it to boast a larger physical footprint than its hot-hatch-like predecessor. This time, the X2 fully leans into its utility vehicle approach and is 193 mm longer than before and even 66 mm longer than the new X1. Those larger dimensions help it rectify the key issue from the old model, which was far too cramped inside, especially in the rear seats.

Beyond the noticeable increase in size, the 2024 X2 has a fresh new exterior design. As with the other even-numbered crossovers in the BMW portfolio, the profile of this model is supposed to remind you of a coupe. It looks more like a squashed sedan on stilts than some sleek coupe.
