Taking a reclaimed bridge timber and cutting it down to size for our mantle project. Adding some "Ageing" with the power plane, belt sander and wire wheel, I then stained it as dark as possible, then added a patina of vinegar/steel wool blend mixed with black chalk to make it even darker. Finally we coated it a dark paste wax , then covered with a clear wax.
