The new S6 TDI is a very controversial car but use it in the manner for which it was designed (i.e. not on a test track or to prod with sticks) and it's possibly one of the most complete cars in the world. The exhaust tips are indeed unfortunate but the fact it runs on diesel isn't an issue for me as it makes the car far more appealing to anyone who is genuinely in the market for a fast, refined, commodious car to cover big miles in. After all they didn't sell many of the old 4.0T versions so why worry about upsetting owners of those when the TDI appeals to loads more people?

As for the noise it makes, some reviews (Car Wow) will be intent on misleading you that the S6 TDI sounds like a tractor but this couldn't be further from the truth - listen to the audio in this video and you will hear the truth. Yes it's artificial but it genuinely sounds like a V8 both inside and outside the car and for a diesel this is very clever.

The red UK press car reviewed by Car Wow, just like this one is a funny spec with many items not available in the UK. Car Wow failed to mention that the air suspension fitted to both these UK press cars IS NOT available for the UK market, I'd expect it to feel a lot sportier on steel springs ideally with adaptive electronic dampers. They also failed to mention that the acoustic glass is not available in the UK either.

Also it's quite significant that the new S6 has the same torque figure as the old (C7) RS6 at 700nm, guess what? They didn't say that either!

So if you want to watch an even handed review by someone not chasing viewing figures by making sensationalist statements that bare a loose relation to the facts, then you've come to the right place 👍
