After my last video about this push-pull tube amplifier, the BV-6V6 (Beaver Valley 6V6), I realized that I had incorrectly biased the output stage in my redesign. I had biased the 6V6GT output tubes as if they were EL84 (aka 6BQ5) tubes, and those 6V6GT's were pulling way too much current. The process by which I arrived at a satisfactory final result involved consulting data sheets and other designs, crunching numbers, and experimenting with different bias resistors and rectifier tubes. I shot the video in June and July 2023, and it's interesting for me to look back at the events in hindsight. In the final configuration, the amp delivers just over 10 watts per channel at 1 kHz, and the output tubes idle at about 85% of their rated maximum dissipation. In a prior configuration shown in the video, the amp was producing 12.5 watts per channel, but the output tubes were idling at 110% of rated maximum dissipation!
