Rutherford county is one of the fastest growing counties in Tn with a population of over 350,000. Middle Tennessee State University is in Murfreesboro and the 2nd largest university in Tn . Smyrna Tn is just a few miles north of Murfreesboro on highway 70. Smyrna has a population of 53,000. Nissan has a large car manufacturing plant in Smyrna with over 8,000 employees. The plant is capable of producing over 600,000 cars a year. Percy Priest Lake on the Stones River borders Smyrna. The Nashville Airport is about 20 miles from Smyrna on highway 70 or Murfreesboro Pike, There is a large shopping area in Smyrna next to I 24 similar to the one I started this drive in Murfreesboro. It includes the first BJ’s wholesale wearhouse in Tn.
