Andy Pittman presents the finalists and winner of the Innovation Hooley Award™ during ImageTrend Connect 2017. The Innovation Hooley Award recognizes those who are serving in a new or innovative way to meet the needs of their organization, including developing programs or solutions to benefit providers, administrators, or the community.

So once again, this year I have the great honor of introducing the Hooley Award in the Innovation category. You know, this is the third year, and I have to say I am really excited for this great tradition that we've been able to start. Again this year, we receive a ton of nominations from all across the country - a lot of amazing submissions of people doing really amazing things in their communities. At ImageTrend, we highly value learning, creativity and inventiveness, and really believe that's what drives the growth of the organization and it's really what makes the world a better place to live in as Mike mentioned this morning. The Hooley Innovation Award is meant to acknowledge our customers and members of our community that exhibit those values best. The nominees for this year's Hooley Award are: Laurent Repass, from Orange County EMS System; Michael Poynter, from the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services; and Dr. Demetris Yannapolous, from the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Now, all three of these nominees are more than worthy, they are all doing great things within their organizations, and now we have a video that will explain a little bit about each one's contribution.

Laurent Repass - Orange County EMS System
Laurent led the OCHPRIO HIE integration project on behalf of Orange County EMS, giving providers the ability to look up patients in the field to seamlessly download the latest health information directly from the OCHPRIO HIE. A gateway between ImageTrend Elite and Health Information Hub maintains secure access to patient information in the field and at the hospital, where staff can receive all pre-hospital care information electronically at the moment it is posted. The project rollout for Laurent included working with agencies, hospitals and the HIE to achieve success.

Michael Poynter - Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services
Under the leadership of Michael Poynter, Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services has continuously been on the forefront of EMS data collection. With nearly all of the state's EMS agencies reporting, KBEMS switched focus to data accessibility for care providers and external stakeholder research. Data sharing agreements were formalized with the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center, and the Kentucky Department for Public Health, and a partnership with the Kentucky Health Information Exchange will make prehospital records available throughout the patients' continuum of care.

Dr. Yannapolous - University of Minnesota Medical Center
Dr. Yannapolous has been the cornerstone of collaboration between Twin Cities metro EMS, including North Memorial Ambulance and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, in regard to patients in refractory ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia, otherwise known as an "electrical storm." Under his guidance and medical care, survival from refractory VF/VT has risen from six to eight percent to over 48 percent.

The winner of this year's Hooley Innovation award goes to Michael Poynter, Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services.

"My first goal was to put together a team, and when you put together a team, you can achieve a lot of things. Here's one of them. Team effort. Thank you."
