Tesla is planning a supersonic electric plane
The Tesla CEO first hinted at an electric plane in an interview in September 2018. The design he had in mind at the time was an electric battery-powered VTOL, or vertical take-off and landing aircraft.

The Tailwind
There is also the Tailwind, a concept electric aircraft by LA startup Ampaire, which plans to be a 16-seater passenger electric plane. The Tailwind is expected to be a top contender in electric planes in terms of efficiency and noise emissions.

Tesla competition, The Lilium
Electric planes powered by batteries would be a phenomenal achievement. There are several electric planes on the market already, but none qualify for use in the commercial airline industry.
