Many 2-stage snow blower instructions indicate auger belt replacement requires the auger section to be split from the frame/drive section. Here's another method to try on some snow blowers that MIGHT be easier and faster (snowblower brand, model & size dependent).

You'll likely be able to remove & replace your 2 stage snowblower auger belt as I've shown on this Husqvarna 227P, provided you have enough clearance between the auger pulley and drive plate pulley on your particular blower. If you don't have that room, then pulling the auger section to facilitate belt removal as per the owner's manual will be required. When in doubt - reference your manual!
