We had a lovely little art-making session with the small but much-loved little Elated Elk crew this week, and once it was finished I realized it would be fun to share it with you & the wider world because I rarely do free things (like whaaaat, note to self: offer more free things because the world is a better place with more art in it) through lack of time & planning. A big thank you to the Elated Elk crew for being there and also for their consent in sharing this with you! To rewatch or join more live sessions:   / marienoellewurm

SO, if you feel like getting creative with us, this is a quick little hour of drawing together, in the first half I just improvised/played with shapes I've been loving so much recently, and then in the second half, I continue working on the subject of cabins which we explored in great depth in July's live session (so fun), AND integrated the idea of a separate drawing challenge called the #3materialsdrawingchallenge, which is a super fun (and harder than I thought!) challenge created by @naomitippingillustrator and @charlotte.durance and @kathryn_boyt.

Mel also asked me the very pertinent question of "how can you unify a piece when using three different materials/colors?" which got me talking about what I know about unifying an art piece in general: we talked about balance, rhythm, both in terms of shape and in terms of color, visual language echoes, big/middle/small and the range of variation/choices you can have within that.

I also talk about studio reorganization and how it can help support the often-moving-goal-posts of our lives as chaotic creatives 😅

It was super fun and I hope you enjoy it if you decide to join in!
If you do and decide to share, please remember to use the #3materialsdrawingchallenge hashtag if you do that part of it, and of course the #moonmossclub hashtag too. I look forward to seeing what you make either way. Let's fill the world with more art right?? :) :)
