Unboxing Google's Pixel 4a 5G, which boasts similar specs and the same camera tech vs the Pixel 5 flagship phone, for a £499 price in the UK. Ahead of my review, here's a close look at that stock Android 11 experience (with guaranteed updates for 3 years), Snapdragon 765G performance and other major bits of this mid-range mobile. Stay tuned for a full comparison of Google's 2020 smartphones, and my verdict on the Pixel 4a 5G.

Starting with the good: this rocks the same dual camera setup as the 5, so you can capture great looking photos and slick 4K video. So far my tests have yielded good results, and I'll cover that more in my review. Gaming with PubG and Call of Duty is a breeze, and battery life should keep you going all day no worries.

However, the Pixel 4a 5G does sport a basic plastic design here, with Gorilla Glass 3 for the display, and no water resistance. Still, the compact finish makes for a comfortable hold. I love the OLED screen too, and that stereo speaker setup, even if the 90Hz refresh has been culled.

My final verdict will fully cover the gamer experience, battery life and other bits, and you can see my Pixel 5 vs 4a 5G vs 4a comparison soon to see how Google's smartphones all stack up.
