Translocation is the transport of assimilates (products of photosynthesis) from source to sinks within a plant. This video talks about the process of the first stage - phloem loading by the apoplast pathway.
Note that this stage can occur through the symplast pathway, which is a passive process, but it is slower and perhaps less efficient.
