Why do many in the community think Pokemon Go developer Niantic is intent on killing the app just to watch it die? Some have speculated that maybe, just maybe, they care so much more about exercise and connection than millions and millions of dollars in profit. And sure, maybe that’s part of it. But I think the actual answer is far, far simpler: Niantic was never really a gaming company, and Pokemon Go was never really a game
