If you want to become a dealer in Ontario (or work as a salesperson in a dealership), you'll need to complete OMVIC's Individual Application Form.

If you are registering as a new dealer, you'll need to submit this Individual Application form, at the same times as the Business Application Form. Note: If you registered your dealership as a partnership or as a corporation, make sure all partners, directors, officers, shareholders, signing authorities complete an Individual Application Form too.

OVERALL SUMMARY - HOW TO BECOME A DEALER IN ONTARIO

...STEP 1 - Study and Pass OMVIC'S Certification Course    • Completing OMVIC Dealer Application |...  

...STEP 2 - Complete the Individual Application form
1) You must have either, a valid driver's license OR passport
2) Must be able to supply proof of citizenship
3) Must satisfy OMVIC's preconditions
4) Provide info on employment history for the past 5 years
5) Must have passed OMVIC's certification course (required if you will be the person in charge of the day to day operation of the dealership and/ or if you will be involved in any aspect of the selling, buying, leasing, advertising, negotiating. etc. of a car.
6) Answer all eligibility questions to OMVIC's satisfaction. Provide signed and dated statements/evidence, if required, to explain certain past or present financial situations you may have experienced. (as per application request)
6) Pay $250 (unless you are registered as a sole proprietor, then you don't have to pay)
