The above video interview with the current Vice President of Business Development and Marketing and soon-to-be CEO of the Broadband Forum, Craig Thomas, provides an overview of the CloudCO demonstration and why it is important to service operators and vendors.

Fundamentally, the disaggregation and virtualization enabled by the CloudCO approach allows service providers to have a network that efficiently and quickly responds to market demands. The inherent interoperability allows service providers to mix and match elements to optimize their network.

Led by the University of New Hampshire’s Interoperability Lab, this multi-month effort culminated in a demonstration by ten vendors at NetworkX in Paris. Demonstrations of applications included clientless secure work from home, parental controls, and virtualized OMCI (ONU Management Control Interface). The complete video, which will be soon posted on the BBF website, provides more detail on those developments.

It was Viodi’s privilege to help document the Broadband Forum’s 2023 CloudCO demonstration. The UNH campus and the surrounding town of Dover are lovely, as hinted at in a few of the scenes from the above video.
