This was a beautiful Bosnian Nasheed performed at our Balkan Cultural Night by Bosanksa Ruza choir group from Queens, New York. The song is from the perspective of a child who was killed consoling his father who lives on in the face of this injustice. The child asks for his father not to weep and instead to respond with patience and prayer in the face of this tragedy. The child reassures the father of its journey as a soul to the gates of heaven, a place to reunite someday. We have posted a rough translation below to help you fully appreciate the song.

Lyrics in Bosnian
Nemoj žalit suzama
već se sjeti dovama
nemoj da ti suza krene
kad probudiš uspomene
Nemoj žalit oče moj
kad ugledaš mezar moj
nemoj da ti suza krene
kad se sjetiš oče mene
Nemoj žalit suzama
već se sjeti dovama
nemoj da ti suza krene
kad probudiš uspomene
K'o da duša poleti
sva u nuru izgori
zastane kraj kapije
ridvan čuvar avlije

Lyrics in English
Don't grieve with tears
but instead remember with Du’as (prayers)
May your tears not flow
when you recall those memories
Don't grieve, o father
when you see my grave
may your tears not flow
when you remember me, o father
Don't grief with tears
but remember with Du'as (prayers)
May your tears not flow
when you recall those memories
The soul is flying
it bursts with light
and The Gatekeeper Angel
stops beside the gate (to welcome it to paradise).
